I’ll start today by thanking everyone for their very kind comments. More please 🙂 Seriously though, it’s nice that you have all taken the trouble to read my ramblings, thank you.

I was working today so travelled out to Sussex and back. I was driving mostly on main roads and motorways: I am impressed with how the British public is following the Government instructions on essential travel only. All the roads were really quiet. Having travelled up and down the A303 on a regular basis ever since we moved to the West Country in the 60’s, it was weird, almost eerie, to see in places the road completely deserted.

On the same theme, I notice how little traffic there is through our village now. Going for a walk the other day, all I heard was the occasional tractor and lots of very noisy birds. It made me realise how we have all got used to a very noisy world and made me wonder how many years ago the countryside was this quiet. It also reminded me that even when we moved from London, in the 60’s, the world was getting very noisy. I grew up with it near Heathrow and then near RNAS Yeovilton. When the planes moved from there, probably in the early 70’s, it was too quiet, I hated it. I left home and moved into Yeovil, back to the noise and everything was right with the world again. What a change – the peace nowadays is blissful but I fear it may not last too long.

Anyway, after a long days driving, what better way to end it than with a hot bath, a bottle of St. Austell Proper Job IPA and Killing Eve. Perfect.
